Build Carolina announces 5-year impact

Tens of thousands exposed to skills and career pathways; thousands of courses completed in 5 years

In less than five years, Build Carolina was envisioned, launched, and scaled to become South Carolina’s leading non-profit organization for the tech community - the most valuable pool of talent for the future of our state.

By the close of 2022, Build Carolina programs impacted thousands of individuals in several ways:

  • Over 3,000 courses on coding and software development completed

  • Over 56,000 people exposed to coding skills and tech career paths

  • 91 graduates of advanced, full-time courses

  • 185 volunteers across the state

  • 250+ events, info sessions, cohorts, classes, meetups and more

Build Carolina had launched three programs: SC Codes, Carolina Code School and Develop Carolina. Each program aims to help more people unlock skills training and careers in tech. However, Build Carolina isn’t here to simply create programs. It keeps a finger on the pulse of the entire tech talent ecosystem.

So, why does this mission matter? Technology is at the center of our collective future of work. Helping people build skills today that will unlock technical career paths increases economic mobility, improves educational systems, and illuminates new career opportunities.

To mark five years of impact, Build Carolina compiled just some of the impact stories and stats into a 5-year impact report. To access the full report, click here.
